Spanish 263 Studies

Students continue to develop language competency within the context of culturally rich thematic units. Performance-based activities allow students to speak and write in practiced and familiar situations with increasing independence. Listening and reading skills are further developed through the use of authentic materials to interpret basic stated information and recognize key details in familiar contexts. Practice, review and support are provided regularly, and pacing is adjusted to meet needs of learners. Students continue to explore the Spanish speaking cullture(s) in new contexts, as well as make comparisons and connections to their own experiences. Communication in the classroom (teacher-student and/or student-student) takes place primarily in Spanish.

Prerequisite:

  • Recommendation of the Spanish 163 teacher.
  • Note: Incoming freshmen will be placed in Spanish Studies 263 through the recommendation of the Spanish 163 teacher and the recommendation of the Instructional Supervisor for World Languages.
