Spanish for Heritage Learners 373

This rigorous Pre-AP course, in conjunction with Spanish for Heritage Learners 273, is designed for Heritage learners to develop advanced language skills. All three modes of communication are emphasized in preparation for both AP courses: presentational (speaking and writing), interpersonal (speaking and writing) and interpretive (reading and listening). Students will be able to show competent use of language in their writing, and be able to infer and analyze the meaning in complex written texts; grammar will be implemented to strengthen writing skills. Unit themes focus on the development of personal identity as well as social, historical and cultural awareness of Spanish speaking countries. Literature of all genres will be studied, namely: short story, essay, novel, and poetry. Current events throughout the Spanish speaking world based on unit themes are also introduced and discussed.
