Religions of The World – West 162/172

Students who take this course will be exposed to major Western religious answers to such questions as: What is the ultimate purpose of life? Is there life after death? Can we know what is good or bad, right or wrong? How can we find happiness? Who or what am I? This course will focus on the origins, historical development, beliefs and practices, and contemporary cultural impact of the following religions: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. In addition to these world religions, students will also objectively explore various diverse religious cultures which have developed within the United States. In order to receive honors credit, students must complete additional course work.

Prerequisite:

  • Placement is through department recommendation.
