French AP Language and Culture 583
Students work to develop advanced linguistic and cultural competencies across the three modes of communication in the context of the six AP themes. Performance-based activities and assessments provide students with multiple opportunities to use the French language independently in unfamiliar contexts. Interpretive listening and reading tasks involve authentic sources designed for native speakers and are focused on both literal comprehension and inferential interpretation. Students analyze and make comparisons with their own cultural products, practices, and perspectives through the use of print, audio and video materials from media and literary sources. Classroom communication requires a higher level of language proficiency and takes place exclusively in French.
